Instacart has partnered with ButcherBox to provide direct-to-consumer meat sales through the Instacart platform. This offer is currently available in the following cities—

How ButcherBox works
You can choose from various pre-selected boxes of meats such as beef, chicken, and seafood. Once you’ve selected the box you’d like to buy and placed your order through the Instacart platform, your order is sent directly to you by a shipping provider (UPS, United States Postal Service, FedEx, etc.) Once the order has been placed, it can no longer be edited or canceled.
Instacart will send you an email and push notification with the tracking number for your order so you can check the status at any time. You can also follow the tracking updates in your Instacart app by selecting Notifications on the left side of your ButcherBox order page. Please note that Instacart doesn’t keep track of ButcherBox orders. The best way to check the status of your order is to Google the tracking number.
To find your tracking number—
- Go to your ButcherBox order on Instacart
- Select Notifications
- The tracking number is displayed on the Notifications page that appears
ButcherBox orders are temperature-controlled and fulfilled by a shipping provider within 1 - 3 business days. If there is inclement weather, your order may be delayed.
ButcherBox uses dry ice to keep boxes temperature-controlled. If your box arrives with dry ice, always handle it with care. Use protective gloves, oven mitts, or a towel to protect your skin. Prolonged contact can cause an injury similar to a burn. Do not place dry ice on a tiled or solid surface countertop or dispose of it in the sink, toilet, or garbage. Instead, let dry ice evaporate in a well-ventilated area that isn’t accessible to children or pets.
Please note that you don’t have to be home to receive your ButcherBox order. However, we recommend retrieving all orders within 6-8 hours of delivery.
Instacart doesn’t reschedule ButcherBox orders because shipping providers handle the delivery. Contact the shipping provider if you’d like to reschedule or if you have any questions about the delivery of your order.
